Entrepreneurs learn to use ITC’s market analysis tools to screen market opportunities

The International Trade Centre (ITC) is training small and medium-sized businesses in developing countries to research market opportunities and build export strategies to boost their competitiveness in global markets, as part of a partnership with the European Commission’s Directorate General for Trade.

The training workshops teach participants to use ITC’s market analysis tools, such as Trade Map, Market Access Map and Standards Map, which allow them to research different markets and identify sector-specific trade opportunities.

The trainings are designed to enable owners of small enterprises to find and understand trade-flows analysis, market-access conditions, sustainability requirements, access to finance and opportunities arising from diaspora trade, according to Oliver von Hagen, an Associate Market Analyst at ITC.

‘The capacity-building programme will provide small enterprises with the market intelligence and analysis methods they need to successfully access new markets,’ he said.

The next event will be held in Bangladesh on 26 and 27 June. Additional trainings are scheduled in Rwanda and Tanzania, with previous workshops held in Nepal and Ethiopia.

Business owners interested in attending the next training session can sign up by emailing Mathieu Lamolle at lamolle [at] intracen.org.
