SheTrades Morocco - Closing Ceremony

    Overview

    SheTrades Morocco was launched in 2020 by the International Trade Centre, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Moroccan Investment and Export Development Agency.
    Funding was provided by the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation, the Islamic Development Bank and the Trade Facilitation Office Canada (in Kind).
    The project was implemented in partnership and collaboration with several Moroccan business support institutions in the agribusiness sector, including the National Agribusiness Federation (FENAGRI), the Association des Femmes Chefs d'Entreprise du Maroc (AFEM) and the Association Marocaine des Exportateurs (ASMEX).

    The project targeted 25 women-owned and -managed small businesses and cooperatives operating in the agri-food sector that received support for:
    • strengthening and diversifying their product offering;
    • consolidating existing markets;
    • accessing new markets.

    The project also helped the sector's Trade Support Institutions to assess existing support services and to optimize the services offered to women by adapting to their needs. Support and capacity building activities were identified and implemented after a thorough diagnosis of both enterprises and institutions to effectively address the identified constraints and needs.
    Participating enterprises benefited from training and coaching in areas such as quality management, certification, export marketing and the development of a marketing action plan and compliance with standards required by buyers, which will enable them to increase their international competitiveness and diversify their export base.
    The project has also enabled participating companies to connect with new markets and potential buyers, notably in Canada at SIAL Montreal.
