Music and songwriting camp builds bridges in the Caribbean
Artists and musicians in St. Vincent and the Grenadines played host to an international songwriting camp in April 2023. Platinum and award-winning producers and songwriters attended from the United Kingdom, the United States, Trinidad and Tobago, and St. Lucia.
The week-long camp was supported by the International Trade Centre (ITC) as part of the United Kingdom Trade Partnerships Programme (UKTP).
Masterroom Studios hosted the songwriting camp as a multinational, collaborative effort between writers, producers, artists, and engineers in the global music industry.
Participants described the creative environment as a bridge between Western and Caribbean music styles.
Following the camp, organizers thanked the UK government and said that “these camps would not be possible without the help of donor funding, and we say a big thank you to the ITC and UKaid for helping put this all together.’
The music industry in the Caribbean continues to show outstanding growth. Total revenue is expected to reach $6.39 million in 2023 and up to $10 million by 2027. Much of this growth is driven by digitization, as downloads and music apps dominate the market segment.

The UK Trade Partnerships (UKTP) programme works with African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries to increase exports from SME suppliers to the United Kingdom (UK) and the European Union (EU). The UKTP programme is funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It is implemented by the International Trade Centre.
