Trade policy formulation and implementation

<p>To provide with a sound evidence base for Chile&rsquo;s future trade relationships, the project envisages to bring together databases and expertise in ITC and the Ministry. Results will help inform the public about potential outcomes of its trade agreements.</p>

<p>This project addresses the problem of extracting valuable insights from vast amounts of trade-related text data using artificial intelligence. In a world where text data is growing exponentially, being able to automatically mine it for relevant insights can provide a competitive edge to the organisation.</p>

<p>The Swiss Trade Policy and Promotion Project is a 4-year trade-related technical assistance project in Vietnam which aims to improve trade performance and international competitiveness of MSMEs through enhanced favorable framework condition for trade, public-private dialogue mechanisms, and a strengthened eco-system for dynamic trade promotion. Ultimately, it will contribute to sustainable and inclusive economic growth and poverty reduction in the country. Funded by SECO, ITC will facilitate the update of the national export strategy and the development of a &nbsp;Public-Private Dialogue platform for export development. Vietrade has been mandated to establish a Grants Fund for Business Support Organizations (BSOs) to support exporting SMEs.</p>

<p>The project will provide the Ministry of Trade and Industry with advisory services and undertake quality control measures on the consolidated National Trade Policy to ensure alignment with the ITC approach of &ldquo;Trade Policy for Export Success&rdquo;; it will develop an implementation program for the National trade policy and formulate the National Export Strategy development roadmap.</p><p><br>The National Trade Policy will be used as a key reference to guide the country`s efforts in expanding productive capabilities in strategic export potential sectors. The strategy will therefore attempt to determine where Lesotho is as an exporting country and where it needs to be in order to achieve the socio-economic goals set out in the Vision 2020.</p>
