This guide offers small businesses contacts and information to comply with trade-related standards.

Small firms in Azerbaijan now have easier access to contacts and key information about trade-related standards required to enter foreign markets.

Managing Quality in the Republic of Azerbaijan – A directory of services for SMEs is the latest in a series of national directories that ITC has developed with standards bodies around the world.

ITC surveyed 50 companies in Azerbaijan and discovered that small businesses face challenges on a variety of non-tariff measures, the most significant being quality management. This guide was developed in response.

‘This guide will be a useful resource and practical tool for SMEs in the Republic of Azerbaijan in their efforts to improve competitiveness and increase their participation in international trade,’ said ITC Executive Director Pamela Rosemarie Coke-Hamilton.

It offers up-to-date information on Azerbaijan’s national quality management system and infrastructure, defines common terms, gives trade promotion organizations and sector association contacts, outlines training and advisory services and offers a contact list that can help small businesses find the assistance they need.

This publication was prepared under the project Eastern Partnership: Ready to Trade – an EU4Business Initiative, financed by the European Union.

Managing Quality country series

Managing quality directories respond to small business needs identified in the ITC Non-Tariff Measures Surveys. The guides, which can be updated locally, are supported by training workshops. The national guides help identify gaps in the standards-related ecosystem, such as the need to upgrade testing laboratories.
